Bringing the blog back to life, and other updates

Hello everybody,

It is SuperMario290 (Keenan Payne) the founder and person that runs this blog as well as others. I am just making this post to tell you guys what I’ve been up to in the past months, and that I am planning on updating this site weekly. I have been busy with tons of projects that you can check out below and I haven’t had a lot of time to do much writing, but it’s still getting a substantial amount of traffic and you guys are pretty damn awesome so I can’t leave ya hanging. ;)

So yes, I will be updating the blog with content every couple of days or so with what I can find, I’ll write some tutorials on hacking every now and then, and I might change the theme up and maybe get a custom domain name or something. In the mean while, here are some of the ventures that I have been working on all summer up until now.

  • SlackrMedia – That is the company that I have created. We are a freelance web design agency and we do all web design and create our own intellectual properties. I have completely redesigned the site, put up all of the information needed on it, got forums up and running, and managing features on that. You can check that out at http://slackrmedia.com.
  • Default Prime – Yes, my oh so sarcastic video game blog. I have been updating the blog and as you can see we have a quiet different design than the last time Animal Crossing Addict was updated. I have also hired a couple of authors and editors, including Oculin and SuburbanHell. We are now averaging more than 1,000 unique hits each day, are at a page rank 3, in the top 100k of Alexa, and are doing well. We are planning on redesigning the site soon though so look forward to that!http://defaultprime.com
  • SlackrThemes – Since we are a web design agency, and we do web design and blog design, we thoght “what better way to promote our skills and talents than by launching a website where we offer both free and premium templates and themes”. Well, that’s what we’re doing with SlackrThemes. We are releasing normal XHTML/CSS themes, as well as templates for WordPress and soon other CMS’s like Drupal and Joomla. The best part about it is, you can download all of the premium themes and use them on as many sites as you want for only $20/year, full support, and the whole shebang. Yeah. http://slackrthemes.com
  • Gaming Mashup - Our latest project here at SlackrMedia, Gaming Mashup is a part of a new subsidiary network/company that we are creating. What Gaming Mashup does is syndicate all of the latest gaming news from across the web and puts it in one place for you. You can see news by console, and there are tons of categories for each platform including reviews, rumors, and so on. The site is still under construction and will be upgraded minorly for a while to come, but it is up and running and so are the forums. Also, there’s dynamic backgrounds (what’s better than that?). http://gamingmashup.com

So that’s it, the whole roundup of the site, and what I’ve been doing and all of the excuses I have of not being here for ya guys ;) Hope you enjoy the new site and I’ll try to keep current on it!

Meet the newest SlackrMedia property, Xbox360Forums.net. I bought this from a friend, and decided to completely re-open the site as the other had tons of spam users and spam posts. On the forum, you post pretty much about everything. There are categories for games, hacks, Xbox Live, and others. We only have a couple of members, but some posts, so go check it out and join in the fun!

Okay, it has been a huge week! As of today, iPod Games, News, and Hacks has reached more than 100,000 unique hits! Also, if you haven’t noticed, we have a new author on board! His name is Avery Quest, and will be helping me author Default Prime, and Animal Crossing Addict, as well as this site! Please welcome him with open arms, and look forward to more updates on the site!

About my iPod Hacks Installer

I’ve had a lot of questions on my iPod hacks installer, and I’m going to post here and answer some of those, to help your curious minds.

Q: When will it be done?

A: Don’t expect it soon. I’m 14 years old and in high school, and ever since I made a rough draft I’ve honestly been feeling a lot of pressure from readers to get it done. It will be done when it’s done.

Q: Will you actually “break” the ipod classic and ipod nano 3rd gen firmware?

A: I will work on completing the installer first without the classic and 3rd gen firmware, but I will work on it, but don’t expect it soon. I’m only one person, and if more people want to help out, I’d really like it.

Q: Why are you even doing this?

A: Because I care about the iPod hacking community, and I believe in making the iPod live up to it’s full potential, and I want to make it easy to install applications such as iPodlinux, rockbox, and other games.

Reviews Both Good and Bad for the New iPods

So it’s been awhile since Apple first released they’re new iPods, including the iPod Classic, the iPod Touch, and the smaller 3rd gen iPod Nano. Here’s some of the goods and bads people think about these new things.

iPod Nano
People have been thoroughly impressed with the new 3G nano. Playlist and CNET say that watching videos on a 2″ screen is not as hard as it may seem. However iLounge seem to think that 8GB of storage isn’t much for videos (plus music). Yet all were pleased with Apple seemingly “under-estimating” battery life.

iPod Classic
People have had a not-so-good reaction with these bad boys. Playlist slammed the iPod classic calling the interface “sluggish” with many “unresponsive controls” Also many accesories, notably video out componets and iPod Games, do not work with the iPod Classic, angering many buyers and potential buyers. Yet iLounge says that the games included are much better, and that the battery life lasts 11 hours… [Read More]

Got My Computer Back!

Well I got my computer back today, with more RAM and hard drive and it’s going faster than ever. I’ve already updated the site, and I’ll be sure to update ALL of the blogs, and put some more songs on the podcast ASAP. Be sure to check back in! D

Heading On Out

Yep that’s right, I’m leaving again. I’m going to Spokane with my family for 4 days. We’ll get back Sunday afternoon, and I’ll have to do tons of updates. I’ll try to update a couple times while I’m there but don’t expect it. Well, I guess I’ll see all you guys later! Enjoy!
