Since apple just started charging for the iPod touch apps, someone started a petition for making them free, especially since people with an iPhone get them for free. Click the link below to sign the petition.

Reall, the apps should be free. Signed the petition.
Alright, it would be great if every single app was free. But people come on, this is reality. Besides if you spent a lot of time making a really nice app from the SDK, wouldn’t you want something in return? or at least a little respect?
Instead of signing this petition, ask a close friend for an iTunes gift card
=)
They all should be free if the iPhones get them for free or everyone should pay for them! I signed the petition, and that means we all should!

I have to say I agree with both sides of the argument here. In part at least. I think that being charged for apps is something that was bound to happen and that, to a degree, is a reasonable thing to ask for on the part of the companies publishing them and the people putting the time into creating them. That being said, I also feel that by large companies alienating certain customer demographics by offering something free to one group of customers, in this case apps for the iPhone, they risk losing, to a certain extent, the loyalty and respect of other key customer demographics, iPod Touch owners in this situation.
I suppose what I’m getting at with my previous rambling is that it isn’t entirely unreasonable for a company such as Apple to charge us, the consumer, for something such as apps; however, it doesn’t make sense from a business stand point to alienate iPod Touch customers/owners who ultimately have many of the same capabilities as iPhone customers/owners by not offering them the same free software. It would definitely be a slippery slope they tread if iPod Touch owners weren’t just going to accept being exploited and end up buying the apps anyway. Hurray for consumerism!
Seriously?
Why do you think apps should be free? People spend time writing and coding these projects. They have to pay for the SDK just like everyone should pay for apps. I gladly pay for them. If you’re all so concerned about, you’ll just end up jailbreaking your phones and stealing them anyway. I guess they should just make iphones free too. and they can throw in an extra ipod touch. Hell, lets make everything free.
Way to stimulate our economy, douchebags.
Also, are you paying monthly to talk on your ipod? No.
Did you have to pay for a ridiculous data package.
I would say that apple is doing the people getting screwed by at&t a favor.
I hope you also know that apple only sees thirty percent of the appstore sales. The developer gets the other seventy.
Take it up with the dev teams, not apple.
If you want everything on the ipod to be free, then we’ll have no one left to waste their time and skill for nothing.
And the fact that most apps are under ten dollars is completely amazing. Beatmaker is twenty. How much does a stand alone sequencer cost? anyone? Despite the fact that you already paid for an ipod(which was bought for an entirely different purpose) you have saved so much buying a cheap program. fruityloops is one hundred dolars? I don’t even find that crazy. And you have to have a computer! big deal.
Pay for the apps.
You guys are insane.
So maybe everyone here should think about making everything free and shutting out good programmers just because you can’t scrape up 2.99 for iBeer.
btw a gift card does not allow you to get apps off of the itunes store. dont ask me why all i know is that if you try it it says that you need a credit card for the apps
if you really want free programs learn to program and you will have no problem getting free apps
i dont care if they cost money its just that i only want the free ones but i cant sing in to apple store (or make an account) cause i dont have a credit card.
Hey u dont need a credit card to make an itunes account now when u get to the part to enter ur credit card type click the one that says none. its the selection all the way to the right.
