1.0.3 Firmware Update for 6G iPod/3G Nano

pple has again released a new firmware update, this time for the flagship 6th generation iPod classic model and the latest generation of iPod Nano(3rd generation).

Release notes again just state “bug fixes”, but users have determined these changes thus far:

  • 6G iPod classic:
    • Cover Flow issues (specifically slow loading times).
    • “Spinning disk” issues (previously draining the battery on shut-down).
    • Various other small fixes and new mini-features such as a disconnecting progress bar, etc.
  • 3G iPod nano:
    • Clock issues.
    • Play count issues (specifically, where games affected song plays).

There seems to be a photos bug introduced with this update on the 6G classic - read this thread for a full description and fix.

As always, you can get this update through iTunes.

  1. I discovered something else:
I had downloaded the first episode of the animation series “Death Note” and converted it with the free version of an mp4 converter (Only difference is a nag over the screen saying you should buy the software) and sync’ed it with my Ipod nano (8gb), after that I downloaded and installed the 1.0.3 software update through iTunes, and suddenly my video wouldn’t show up in the “movies”-menu.
Maybe some kind of new copyright-block?

  2. Was it an english version of the show? And where did you find it? I’ll look into it and see if I can figure out what it is. ;)
